About UsKenshin Taiko was founded by Laura Olson and Denyse Nakashima, as taught by Kirstin Pauca, a member of the Kenny Endo Taiko Dojo in Hawaii. Master Endo has personally come to tutor and perform with us on several occasions.
Various taiko styles exist. Kenshin Taiko tends to be a little more traditional while some of our "cousin" groups are more avant-garde. Our goals include learning, growing together and having fun. Kenshin Taiko is sponsored by the Japanese Church of Christ in Salt Lake City, whose mission includes preserving and sharing the Japanese culture in our community. |

Kenshin Taiko FamilyOver 50 members have performed with us over the 20 years since Kenshin Taiko was founded. As a community group, we come from all walks of life. Members dedicate their time to learn, teach, and perform with the Taiko group. Our taiko drums are carefully and lovingly crafted and maintained by experienced members of the ensemble. We welcome everyone who wants to feel the exhilaration of taiko, whether that is listening, cheering us on, learning the basics or becoming a regular performer in the group.
